BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team went through its second practice of the spring Friday and head coach Neil Callaway again was pleased with the Blazers' effort and enthusiasm.
"I thought it was a good practice," said Callaway. "There were some positive things today. We had a good tempo and a lot of intensity. We worked hard and got some things done."
The Friday workout lasted just over two hours and came a day before the Blazers will practice in full pads for the first time this spring.
"We are going to have to step it up when we begin full pads tomorrow," Callaway said. "It will be a good chance for us to evaluate and see what we have."
Callaway knows his team is still short on numbers, especially with so many players sitting out all or most of the spring as the come back from injuries and offseason surgeries. But he says that won't hold the Blazers back Saturday.
"Even though we are still limited with our players, we need to come out tomorrow, give it our best effort and work on getting better," said Callaway.
