Women's Golf Places 13th At Samford Intercollegiate

ONEONTA, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team rounded out its competition at the Samford Intercollegiate on Tuesday in 13th place with a 36-hole score of 664. The Blazers were led by seniors Alyson Mitchell and Christina Wentworth, who each carded a 163 during the two-day event at Limestone Springs Golf Club.
Jacksonville State, which was in second place at the beginning of the day, shot a tournament-low round of 292 on Tuesday to take the team title with a score of 599.
Host-school Samford was in first place following round one, but fell one spot in the final round of play to finish second with a total of 614. Katelyn Stanier led the Bulldogs and took home medalist honors after tallying a two-over par 146.
Murray State rounded out the top three in the team standings with a score of 620.
Mitchell and Wentworth led UAB and tied for 40th in the individual race with matching scores of 163. Sophomore Lindsay Taylor finished one stroke behind with a 164 to tie for 48th place.
Sophomore Jaime Brabb finished in the 69th position, carding a 174 for the tournament, and freshman Kristin Lottman tied for 74th with a 183.
UAB will return to action on March 27-28 when it competes in the UC Women's Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla.
