UAB Announces Presidential Honors & Dean's List Student-Athletes For Fall

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB athletics department has announced that 54 Blazer student-athletes achieved Presidential Honors or Dean's List accolades for the 2008 Fall Semester.
Twenty-two student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 grade point averages to earn Presidential Honors commendations, while 32 others were named to the Dean's List after achieving at least a 3.6 GPA.
The UAB baseball team led the way with 11 student-athletes recognized, including four (Keith DePew, James Oliver, Mikael Saway and Ryan Woolley) for Presidential Honors and seven (Beau Pender, Bradley Hicks, Brandon Wallace, Cody McMurry, John Volk, Trey Vice and Tristan Farrell) for Dean's List.
"Dr. (Carol) Garrison and I have placed academics as our first priority with our athletic program," said UAB Director of Athletics Brian Mackin. "It is very rewarding to see the results of this effort with the outstanding achievements of our student-athletes this past fall."
