BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB will now open the 2008 football season with a Conference USA home game against Tulsa, one of several changes to the Blazers' '08 schedule, it was announced Tuesday.
The Blazers had been slated to open the campaign at Tennessee on Aug. 30, but the contest with the Volunteers at Knoxville has now been moved to Sept. 13. UAB will host the C-USA foe Golden Hurricane in its opener.
This represents the first time the Blazers have opened a season with a conference game and the first time since the 2004 season that they have opened with a home game.
UAB's home game versus Alabama State, originally scheduled for Sept. 13, will be played a week later on Sept. 20 at Legion Field.
