BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team returns to the field Saturday for its 2007 Conference USA opener against Tulsa.
Kickoff is slated at 6 p.m. CT in H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Okla.
UAB (1-2) was idle last week after defeating Alcorn State, 22-0 on Sept. 15 at Legion Field. This will be the third road contest for the Blazers this season.
Tulsa (2-1) lost last weekend to No. 4-ranked Oklahoma, 62-21. The Golden Hurricane opened the season with wins over UL Monroe and BYU.
The Blazers' defense will face a tough challenge, as Tulsa leads the conference with an average of 505.3 total offensive yards per game, which also ranks 12th in the nation.
The game will be the first Conference USA game for both teams, and also marks the first meeting between the two schools. UAB is an East Division member while Tulsa plays in the West Division.
Radio coverage of the game can be heard on the Blazers ISP Sports Network flagship station WUHT 107.7 FM. The broadcast can also be heard on affiliates WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery, WTRB 98.3 FM in Talladega and WACT 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa.
