BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team went through an early evening workout here Tuesday and has begun more specific preparations toward its season-opening game at Michigan State on Sept. 1.
The Blazers worked about two hours in shoulder pads and shorts on the practice field Tuesday and most of the time was spent putting in some of the scout team material for Michigan State.
"We got in our scout work for Michigan State," said UAB head coach Neil Callaway. "We did a little bit of 11-on-11, full speed stuff and I thought that went pretty good. The tempo was good. There's still a learning process in the scout work and how we want to do things with the scout team learning what Michigan State does. But overall, I thought it was productive.
"We'll go lighter tomorrow," he said, "and then scrimmage Thursday, to make sure all of our game rehearsal is done. So, today has been a good day."
The Blazers' matchup against the Spartans will be televised live at 11 p.m. CT on ESPN2 from East Lansing, Mich.
Tickets for the upcoming home season are now available for purchase online at UABsports.com or by contacting the UAB Ticket Office at (205) 975-8221. Single-game tickets begin at $15.
