BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will look to get back on track Tuesday when the Blazers play host to Troy in their final home match of the 2007 season.
The match will start at 1:30 p.m. and be played at the Brook Highland Racquet Club. It is a makeup from the match previously scheduled for March 1 but postponed due to inclement weather.
UAB (11-7) is trying to gain some momentum as it prepares for the Conference USA Championships, coming up later this week in Houston, Texas. The Blazers have dropped their last two matches after winning five in a row. UAB's most recent action came last Thursday as the Blazers dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 15 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Despite the recent setbacks, the '07 season has to be considered a success after UAB lost its top four players from last spring. "This has been a satisfying season for us," said head coach Derek Tarr. "I feel like we have overachieved this year. Now, we're hoping to have a good match against Troy and then head to our conference championship with some momentum."
Troy enters the match with a 5-9 dual match record but the Trojans own a recent win over then-No. 47-ranked Denver.
