UAB's Erin Harris Takes Sixth In Heptathlon At LSU Combined Events

BATON ROUGE, La. - Senior Erin Harris led the UAB women's track and field team at the LSU Combined Events meet, placing sixth in the women's heptathlon with a point total of 4,500. Harris placed in the top five in three of the seven events to lead the Blazers.
Harris' best finish came in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.61 to place third. She also took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46 and finished fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 26.09 meters.
Also competing in the two-day event for UAB was freshmen Timara McMillan and Christina Chambers. McMillan took 10th place in the heptathlon with a personal-best 4,083 points, while Chambers finished in 12th place with 3,661 points.
McMillan finished in the top eight in four different events, including a sixth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.87. She also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (26.42), seventh in the javelin throw (22.41 meters) and eighth in the long jump (5.24 meters).
Chambers, who finished in 12th place overall, had her best showing in the 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:33.75 to take the fifth spot.
Shevell Quinley of Arizona won the women's heptathlon with a total of 5,532 points.
