UAB Women's Golf Team Finishes 11th At Baja Classic

BAJA, Mexico - The UAB women's golf team traveled to Baja, Mexico to kick off its 2007 spring schedule, competing in the Baja Classic hosted by Northern Illinois University. The Blazers completed the two-day event tied for 11th with a two-round score of 642. The 15-team invitational was scheduled for three rounds, but the final round was rained out on Tuesday.
Oregon took home the tournament title with a combined score of 609, 33-over par. Louisville finished second at 613 and Birmingham Southern and Colorado tied for the third spot with a score of 620.
Freshman Carolyn Cochran was UAB's leader with a two-round total of 154, tying her for 15th overall. Sophomore Alyson Mitchell brought in rounds of 77 and 84 to complete the event tied for 41st at 161.
Senior Jennifer Head shot a team-low round of 75 on day one, followed by an 87 on day two, to finish tied for 47th with a score of 162. Senior Martha Hudson tallied a total of 166 and senior Lois Jones finished with a score of 178.
The Blazers' next competition will be on February 26 at the Ann Rhodes-Birmingham Southern Shootout.
