Hilligoss Named To Conference USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas ----- Senior Elizabeth Hilligoss, a member of the UAB cross country team, has been named to the 2007 Conference USA Cross Country All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office Thursday.
Hilligoss, a Houston native, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 while majoring in political science at UAB. She has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll six consecutive semesters, while appearing on the UAB Dean's List four semesters.
She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi (UAB's National Honor Society) and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society). She has been named to the Dean's List for the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences twice, and received the Gold Key from the National Honor Society.
Hilligoss' best performance of the season was at the NCAA South Regional Championship where she placed 42nd. Her top finish of the season was a sixth-place finish at the Tiger Twilight Invitational on Oct. 12.
In her career, Hilligoss was named to three All-Conference USA (2004 and 2005) and was named the 2004 C-USA Freshman of the Year. She was also named to two All-South Region teams and has recorded six top-10 career finishes.
Others named to the All-Academic team were Tulsa's Alex Becker, Marissa Daniels of Rice, Hayley Flynn from East Carolina and Emily Malinowski of Memphis. To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and compete in more than half of their team's schedule meet.
