BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's track and field team will compete in the Indiana Opener this Saturday, January 13 on the campus of Indiana University.
This is the first competition for the Blazers since the indoor season began at Clemson on December 1-2, 2006.
The Indiana Opener will also mark the first time in school history that UAB has competed in an indoor track and field meet at Indiana University.
"This will be the first time we have run an indoor meet there," said UAB head coach Ray Stanfield. "It is a great facility and we get a chance to see some schools from the Midwest region.
"These early season meets are just that, early season. We want to run as fast as possible, but we also know that the training is geared towards running your faster times later in the year."
Competition will begin at 12:00 p.m. EST at the Gladstein Fieldhouse. The field events will begin at Noon with the weight throw. The running events will start at 12:00 p.m. with the 60M hurdles and are scheduled to conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relay.
