BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team continued practice Thursday afternoon in preparation for its game versus Mississippi State at Legion Field at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The game will mark the first time in program history that the Blazers will host a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent. The Blazers have played 10 previous SEC teams, but all of those games have been played on the road.
UAB is 1-2 on the year after losing at #9 Georgia last weekend. Head coach Watson Brown told the media Thursday that he's excited to see his team get on the field.
"I'm anxious to watch us play," Brown said. "Mississippi State is very good at defense and I honestly believe we're going to catch them at their best."
Saturday's meeting will be the second time the two teams have faced off after UAB earned a 27-13 victory over the Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss. in 2004.
The Blazers and Bulldogs will kickoff at 6 p.m. CST. The game can be heard on the Blazers ISP Sports Network, beginning at 4:30 p.m. CST. Birmingham listeners can follow all the action on WYDE 101.1 FM, as well as WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery.
