BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB men's tennis player Sebastian Falk has picked up another honor as the senior was named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large team.
The Academic All-America team is voted on by the members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Falk was one of 15 student-athletes nationally selected to the second-team. Falk carried a 3.91 grade point average in finance.
Falk, from March, Germany, capped off his Blazer career this spring by recording a singles record of 19-4 in 2005-06 and earning All-Conference USA honors for the second year in a row.
Falk helped the Blazers to a semifinal appearance in this season's C-USA Championship and a national rank of 73rd, according to the final FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
After transferring from Arkansas-Little Rock following his sophomore season, Falk immediately made an impact at UAB and has enjoyed two outstanding seasons for the Blazers. His two-year singles record was 38-14 while his doubles mark, primarily playing with partner Andre Maier, was 29-13.
