Freshman Christina Wentworth, who stood just a stroke out of a top-four standing after two rounds in the three-day, 54-hole tournament, shot a seven-over 79 Tuesday to finish with a 226 and tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard.
"It was a frustrating day for us," UAB head coach Kim Wilcox said. "Christina came in to the day within a shot of making the all-tournament team, but it just didn't pan out. The great thing we can take away from this is that four of our five golfers come back for 2007. It was a learning experience for us that we will use to get better."
Wentworth's rounds of 71-76-79 put her 10 shots off the individual medalist score. Lene Krog of
UAB junior Martha Hudson (76-80-79=235, 29th) trimmed a stroke off her Monday score to finish in the top-30. Lone senior Janey Deimling's 80-82-83=245 put her in 39th place overall in what is likely her last tournament as a Blazer. Freshman Krista Tressler knocked 11 strokes off her Monday round to finish 83-91-80=254 and in 42nd place. Sophomore Ashlee Claydon finished with rounds of 87-89-86=262 and in 44th.
The tournament concludes the 2005-06 season for the Blazers, who finished eighth in last year's Conference USA Tournament as well.
