BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB men's golf team returns to action Sunday through Tuesday, March 5-7, at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State. The tournament, which will be played on the par-72, 6,965-yard Golden Eagle Country Club course, is a three-day, 54-hole event.
"As always, it's another tough field and a strong tournament for us," UAB head coach Alan Kaufman said. "We've shown improvement in our early spring play and have tinkered with our lineup a bit. Hopefully, we'll start clicking again and get back to the way we were playing in the middle of the fall."
Kaufman will send Garrett Osborn, the third-ranked individual golfer in the nation according to Golfweek, to the tees, along with senior Clark Brown, sophomore Kyle Sapp and freshmen Zack Sucher and Josh Thompson. Osborn is coming off a sixth place finish against a similar field at the Gator Invitational hosted by Florida two weeks ago. He shot rounds of 72-74-69 in the event.
Sapp made his 2005-06 debut at the Gator, firing rounds of 71-74-73. The 71 marked a career-low 18 for the Gardendale, Ala., product.
In addition to host Florida State, other schools in the field for the tournament include defending team champion Coastal Carolina, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, UCF, Virginia, North Carolina and East Tennessee State, among others.
