UAB's Elizabeth Ambrus Impressive At USA Cross Country Championships

NEW YORK ----- UAB junior Elizabeth Ambrus placed 46th in the women's open 8K at the 2006 USA Cross Country Championships and World Cross Country Team Trials Saturday afternoon. Ambrus ran the course, located in New York City's famed Van Cortlandt Park, in a time of 29:41.
Highlights from the 2006 USA Cross Country Championships presented by Gleukos and hosted by the New York Road Runners will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 on February 20, 2006.
The event featured the top distance runners in the United States competing for a spot on the team that will represent the USA at the 2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Japan.
In November, Ambrus became the first UAB cross country runner to win the Conference USA individual title at the conference championship. Ambrus also placed eighth in the 2005 South Regional, helping UAB to its highest-ever finish in the regional and was named an All-South region performer in the event. Additionally, Ambrus competed the the NCAA Championship this past fall.
