"This is a competitive field and a strong tournament, as it is every year," UAB head coach Alan Kaufman said. "We got the kinks out in our first tournament and now need to respond to the call and play well. We're jumbling the lineup a bit, so maybe the competition internally will work out well for us."
Kafuman's Blazers finished their first spring tournament 14th out of 15 teams at North Florida's Mercedes Benz Collegiate in
"It was a tough course that played hard," Kaufman admitted. "Compared to the others in the field, however, we should have finished higher. We've learned from it, though, and are ready to get back out there."
Kaufman will shuffle the participating five to the tees this weekend. Osborn and Brown will be joined by regular Kaylor Timmons, Josh Thompson and Kyle Sapp in the tournament. It will be Sapp's first appearance of the season.
The Blazers are no stranger to the event. Former UAB standout Chris Cousins won the Gator Invitational in 2004. UAB also notched two of its three lowest 54-hole scores on the University Course, shooting 847 and 842 in 2002 and 2001, respectively.
