Spangenberg, Emery Lead UAB Men's Tennis Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ----- Junior Hanns Spangenberg and freshman Alex Emery each won a pair of singles matches in a round robin, dual format here this weekend to highlight the UAB men's tennis team at the Southern Miss Fall Invitational.
The Blazers were joined in the two-day event by host Southern Miss, South Alabama and Arkansas-Little Rock. The tournament was only the second competition of the fall season for head coach Derek Tarr's Blazers.
UAB's Spangenberg picked up singles wins at the No. 1 position over Southern Miss' Domagoj Anic (6-4, 6-4) and UALR's Dinko Halachev (6-2, 7-5) for his two victories on the weekend.
Emery, from Ozark, Ala., defeated Craig Dunne of South Alabama (6-1, 4-6, 7-6) and Callin Frayincheaud of Southern Miss (6-1, 6-2) before falling to Rain Roigas of UALR, 6-4, 7-5.
Tim Bauer, Kruno Despotovski and Thomas Weiss also picked up singles wins during the weekend.
