BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB football team practiced for just over two hours in helmets and shoulder pads on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday's game at Troy. The Blazers continued working on the gameplan for the Trojans, who they will face in a 7 p.m. CT kickoff.
"We are in a game week now and you've got to do everything quicker," UAB head coach Watson Brown said. "We had a lot of time to prepare for Tennessee and now we've got to do the next opponent in one week. That's a little tougher on you and you've got be a little more organized and you've got to get things done in practice. Every week game time is different because the defenses and offenses are different you just have to prepare for what you see."
UAB (0-1) lost its opener to No. 3 Tennessee last Saturday, 17-10. Troy opened the 2005 campaign with a 27-10 victory over Cal Poly at home. The Trojans led the game, 17-0, at the end of the first quarter and held Cal Poly to only 139 yards of offense in the contest.
The Blazers hope to avenge a 20-9 home loss to Troy in the 2003 season with a win on Saturday. UAB downed the Trojans 27-26 in 2002.
Saturday's game will be televised as part of the ESPN Plus package from Movie Gallery Stadium in Troy. The game can be seen in the Birmingham market, on WABM TV (UPN 68).
