BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB football team completed a two-hour practice on Tuesday in preparation for the 2005 season opener at Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 3 in Knoxville.
The Blazers practiced in helmets and shorts working out in all facets of the gameplan. Practice was concluded with a walk through for both the offensive and defensive groups.
"We are deep into the game plan and it's time to see where we are," UAB head coach Watson Brown said. "It's about time to play. Offensively we need to have a balanced offense. If they force us into long yardage situations or we go one dimensional you can't beat a team like Tennessee. The SEC teams we've beat we've had great balance. The better teams you face the more balanced you need to be."
UAB will continue to prepare for the Volunteers with an afternoon practice on Wednesday at the Blazers practice field. The Blazers and Volunteers kick off at 11:30 a.m. CT at Neyland Stadium. The game will be regionally televised on Jefferson Pilot Sports.
