BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB men's tennis player Sebastian Falk has been named to the All-Conference USA second team for the 2005 season.
Falk, who played his first season with the Blazers after transferring from Arkansas-Little Rock, occupied the No. 1 singles position for the entire 2005 season. He registered a 10-6 record in dual matches at the No. 1 spot and had a 19-10 singles record overall, counting his results from last fall.
A native of March, Germany, Falk captured the UTC Baras singles and doubles titles last September in his first action as a Blazer. In October, he won three qualifying matches to advance to the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships, the first leg of the collegiate tennis Grand Slam.
Falk helped lead UAB to a dual match record of 15-6 this spring. He played with several different doubles partners, compiling an overall doubles mark of 15-10.
Falk was the only Blazer player named to the all-conference team. TCU's Fabrizio Sestini was named the Conference USA Player of the Year while Tulane's Robert Klein was selected the Coach of the Year.
