BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Kickoff times for UAB's 2005 nationally-televised football games at home against Southern Mississippi and at Memphis have been set as Conference USA announced its season TV schedule on Tuesday.
The Blazers will meet the Golden Eagles at Legion Field on ESPN on Friday, Oct. 21 with gametime slated for 7:00 p.m. CDT.
Just 11 days later, UAB will be in Memphis for a battle featuring two of the top offensive performers in C-USA in Blazer QB Darrell Hackney and Tigers' RB DeAngelo Williams. That contest -- scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 1 -- will be televised to an ESPN2 audience and will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
Also included in the television schedule released Tuesday by the C-USA office were the national TV dates set for CSTV (College Sports Television) through games of Oct. 22. Among those listed is UAB's Saturday, Oct. 15 contest at first-year league member, Marshall. The game, set for Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.Va., is set to kick off at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
UAB returns 58 letterwinners, including 16 starters, from last season's Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl team. The Blazers open the 2005 season on Sept. 3 at Tennessee.
Other television dates for UAB will be announced at a later time when they become available.
