UAB Men's Tennis Team Defeats Charleston Southern, 5-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team won at four singles positions and swept all three doubles matches here Sunday en route to a 5-1 victory over visiting Charleston Southern.
The Blazers (9-4) claimed the doubles point and then took victories at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles. The only victory for the Buccaneers (11-7) came at No. 1 singles where Quentin Guichard downed UAB's Sebastian Falk, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.
UAB won each of its singles matches in straight sets. Anton Mavrin won at No. 2 singles over CSU's Jonathan Dean, 6-1, 6-2, while Andre Maier claimed a 6-3, 7-5 decision at the No. 3 position over the Bucs' Guy David. At No. 4, the Blazers' Kristijan Mitrovski was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Lee Schutte with UAB's Filip Kanczula taking a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 over Steven Dean.
The match at No. 6 singles between UAB's Johannes Spangenberg and CSU's Babar Ali Khan Akbar was suspended once the match was clinched.
