TAMPA, Fla. --- USF's Jessica Dickson tallied 34 points to lead the Bulls to a 70-43 win over the UAB women's basketball team at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday afternoon.
USF (19-9, 9-5) held the Blazers scoreless for the first seven minutes of action as the Bulls opened up the game with a 23-7 run, with Dickson tallying 15 during the spurt.
Freshman LaKitha Murray, who ran the point for most of the game for the first time in her career, had her fourth consecutive double-digit performance with 11 points. Murray also had 11 rebounds for the second double-double of her career.
Sophomore Crystal McFadden led the Blazers with 22 points and two steals in 35 minutes against the Bulls.
"Once again, we got ourselves in a hole early," said UAB head coach Audra Smith. "LaKitha and Crystal both played well and I'm proud of their efforts. Now, we have to get ready for our conference tournament."
UAB (7-20, 4-10) was plagued by poor shooting once again, hitting 14-of-46 from the floor and going 0-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Blazers also had 21 turnovers which led to 30 of USF's points.
The Blazers head to Charlotte, N.C., to participate in the 2005 Pepsi Conference USA Women's Basketball Tournament, beginning on March 3. UAB will find out who it plays on Sunday.
