BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced in helmets and shorts for just under two hours on Thursday, finalizing preparations for Saturday's Conference USA matchup at Marshall. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. CT at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.Va., and will be televised by CSTV Football Nation on i (formerly PAX). It will also be carried live on the ISP Blazer Sports Network on the flagship station, WYDE-FM 101.1.
"We're ready to go play," UAB head coach Watson Brown said. "It's a big game. Our biggest concern right now is just playing well. The rest of the way, there's not much difference in any of us (in the league). The ones that coach well and play well win games. That's what we've got to go do."
Brown's Blazers (3-2, 1-1 C-USA) hope to rebound from a last-second, 28-27, home loss to SMU last week. Marshall (2-3, 1-1 C-USA) is also coming off a loss - a 41-14 setback at No. 3 Virginia Tech. UAB and Marshall are meeting for the first time.
"The last game is out of our minds," Brown said. "The best way to feel better is to play. The second piece of that is to win when you play. There's only one way to do that and that's play another game and we're looking forward to that."
UAB will depart for Huntington Friday morning.
