BIRMINGHAM, Ala.----- The UAB football team began practice at 2:30 this afternoon; however, rain and thunderstorms cut the practice short on Thursday afternoon. The Blazers practiced in full pads for approximately 90 minutes prior to the rain fall. While the rain and thunderstorms rolled through, the offense and defense resorted to the film room to look at game film and concentrate on a game plan for the Baylor Bears. Despite the bad weather, the Blazers were able to get most of the work in and head coach Watson Brown felt like the weather will not put the team behind schedule. "We had a pretty good practice in full pads and we were able to get most of what we needed done before the storms hit," said Brown. "I think we had a pretty good practice on the field and then we finished up with a film session for the final 30 minutes. The weather today shouldn't set us back at all." The Blazers open the season at home against Baylor Sept. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Legion Field.
