Blazers Continue Work In Hot, Humid Conditions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced for two hours Thursday in warm and humid weather conditions as the teamed geared up for its second scrimmage of the fall season, which will be held Friday at 5 p.m. UAB head coach Watson Brown acknowledged the heat as a factor in practice. "We are getting our head," said Brown. "We went from no heat to heat. It is humid out here and was for the whole practice." The team continued its fundamental work in Thursday's practice. Fundamentals will continue to be the focus of practice through the end of next week. The team will begin work on Baylor after its last scrimmage, which is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28. "We'll go through the scrimmage with fundamental work and we'll start on Baylor the day after the last scrimmage," Brown said. UAB is tentatively scheduled to scrimmage Friday at 5 p.m. at West Campus Field, weather permitting. In the event of rain, the team would move the scrimmage to a later date and hold a workout on the practice field at 5 p.m. UAB "Fan Day", which was originally slated for Friday at West Campus Field, has been moved to Bartow Arena to due to the threat of inclement weather. Festivities at Bartow Arena will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m. UAB opens the season at home against Baylor Sept. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Legion Field.
