BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team had their second two-a-day practice of the 2004 season here on Monday. The Blazers took Sunday off after scrimmaging on Saturday afternoon. "They got tired in the afternoon, but looked good," said UAB head coach Watson Brown. "It's getting a little warmer, but it's still not warm. I think we're going to get some heat here pretty quick. We're not in condition to play yet, I can see that. This is `get better week' and that's kind of our motto for this week. I didn't see any consistency from anybody during the scrimmage and we have to improve that. Now we have to try to get better at things and we've got three weeks to do that." The Blazers will host "Fan Day" on Friday, August 20, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the Green & Gold scrimmage at West Campus Field. Immediately following the scrimmage, fans will be able to meet the 2004 Blazers during a photo and autograph session that will begin at 7:00 p.m. All fans who attend the autograph session will receive a free 2004 UAB football schedule poster for the players to sign. The Blazers will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 (6:00 p.m. CT) when UAB hosts Baylor at Legion Field.
