BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB has added another national television game to its 2004 football schedule.
The Blazers, already set for national TV dates at Florida State (Sept. 18, ESPN2) and at home against TCU (Oct. 15, ESPN), are now also scheduled for a television contest with South Florida on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The game, originally scheduled for Nov. 6, will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
UAB defeated USF last season, 22-19, at Tampa as placekicker Nick Hayes kicked a game-winning, 42-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining.
This is the most national television exposure the UAB's football program has received in its history.
Last season, the Blazers' Sept. 4 home game with Southern Mississippi was televised by ESPN2 and played before a crowd of 44,669 at Legion Field.
"We are excited about having another opportunity for increased exposure for our program," said UAB director of athletics and head football coach Watson Brown. "It is great for the program to be playing in front of a national audience for a third time this season."
UAB opens its 2004 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 (6:00 p.m. CT) when the Blazers play host to Baylor at Legion Field.
