UAB Men's Tennis Falls To Louisville, 4-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The UAB men's tennis team was eliminated from play in the Conference USA Championships here Friday, falling 4-0 in the quarterfinals to No. 3 seed Louisville. The No. 5-seed Blazers tied for fifth place at the championships.
UAB (13-10, 4-2) dropped the doubles point with losses at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Blazers' Andre Maier and Anton Mavrin lost to Louisville's Matt Mayer and Jeremy Clark, 8-3, in the No. 1 match. UAB's Dino Mancarella and Sanzaruz Zaman lost, 8-4, to the Cardinals' Jakob Gustafsson and Damar Johnson at the No. 2 spot. The No. 3 tilt was not completed after Louisville clinched the point.
Louisville took three singles matches for the win. In the No. 1 slot, the Cardinals' Mayer defeated UAB's Mavrin, 6-4, 6-1. At the No. 2 position, the Blazers' Maier fell to Louisville's Octavian Nicodim, 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 6 match, the Cardinals' Clark beat UAB's Andreev, 6-1, 6-0.
The No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 contests were not completed once the match was decided.
