BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB will play non-conference games against schools from the Big 12, Atlantic Coast and Southeastern Conferences, according to the 2004 Blazer football schedule announced Monday.
In addition, UAB will play an eight-game Conference USA slate, starting with a Sept. 25 home contest vs. Memphis.
The Blazers will open their 2004 schedule on Saturday, Sept. 4 as they play host to Big 12 foe Baylor. UAB defeated the Bears, 24-19, in last season's opener at Waco, Texas. The Blazers' road C-USA games will be at Cincinnati (Oct. 2), at Tulane (Oct. 23), at Army (Nov. 20) and at Southern Miss (Nov. 27).
UAB will bring back 19 of 22 starters, as well as its placekicker and punter, from last season's 5-7 team.
