UAB Women's Basketball Drops One At Louisville, 83-70

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ----- The UAB women's basketball team was defeated by Louisville, 83-70, here on Friday night, despite 24 points from Lady Blazer freshman Crystal McFadden.
McFadden's 24 points included 19 in the second half alone. She was 8-15 from the floor, 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and 5-of-7 at the charity stripe. McFadden also tallied a career-high seven assists to go along with three steals.
Louisville's Sara Nord tied a school and Conference USA record with eight three-pointers in the game. Nord hit eight of her 13 attempts from beyond the arc and also had six assists and two steals.
The Lady Blazers (7-15, 1-8) hit 41.5 percent from the floor on 27-of-67 shooting. UAB also had 18 assists and nine steals in the game. The Lady Blazers controlled the paint, outscoring UL, 32-20, in the lane.
UAB's Natasha Thomas recorded her sixth double-double of the season, with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas also had five assists and two steals in 39 minutes of play.
Louisville (13-8, 5-3) hit 51.1 percent of its shots, including an impressive 47.4 percent from the three-point line. The Cardinals had four players score in double-digits, including Nord, as Jazz Covington, Katie Olson and Angel Bradley scored more than 10 each.
The Lady Blazers are now 0-8 this season on the opponent's home court and have lost five games in a row.
UAB's road trip continues, as it travels to face the Bearcats of Cincinnati on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. (ET).
