BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team completed its final practice of the week on Thursday afernoon before traveling to West Point, N.Y. for Saturday's game against Army. The Blazers and Black Knights take the field at Michie Stadium Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. (ET).
"We're ready to go, ready to play," said head coach Watson Brown. "We know Army is because its their senior day and that is a big deal at West Point. We've done this before, so we know we're going into a buzzsaw but we're going to be ready to play too."
The Blazers defeated Houston, 20-7 on Nov. 13 at Legion Field and became bowl-eligible for the third time in the past five seasons. UAB now finds itself at 6-3 overall, 4-2 in conference games. Army enters Saturday's game 2-5 in C-USA and 2-7 overall. The Blazers have won all four meetings between the teams, including a 24-9 victory last season in Birmingham.
Brown does not expect a letdown from the Blazers after becoming bowl-eligible last week.
"We understood all along that was one goal of this team. There are still other goals out there for us to reach and there is a lot at stake in the last two weeks."
The game will be carried live on the Blazer Sports Network (101.1 FM in Birmingham).
