BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team completed its final practice of the week indoors on Thursday before Saturday's Homecoming showdown with Houston at Legion Field. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT. The Blazers will be looking to avenge last year's season-ending 56-28 loss to the Cougars in Houston.
"We've had to move indoors a bunch of times during the year, so I don't really think that hurt us today," said head coach Watson Brown. "There's a lot of mental work that has to be done to get ready for Houston and we had a lot of physical work this week already. Plus we got some extra practices with the ten days off instead of a week, so I think we're okay."
"This was probably the best week of practice we've had all year. I think we're ready to play hard and we just have to play well. Its a toss up game and the team that plays the best is going to win."
The Blazers (5-3, 3-2 C-USA) look to end a two-game losing skid and pick up their sixth victory of the season to become bowl-eligible while the Cougars (3-6, 3-3 C-USA) are coming off a 34-24 win against East Carolina.
UAB last took the field Nov. 3 in a nationally televised matchup against USF and fell to the Bulls by a score of 45-20.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Blazer Sports Network (101.1 FM in Birmingham). The Blazers will then hit the road for their final two games of the regular season. UAB travels to Army on Nov. 20 before heading to Southern Miss Nov. 27.
