BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team worked out in helmets and shorts for an hour and a half here on Monday afternoon, wrapping up its preparations for its game against USF. The Blazers host the Bulls on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. (CT) at Legion Field. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
"It think we're ready," said UAB head coach Watson Brown. "It's time to play again. I think we're pretty fresh. We have the game plan down as best we can and now it's time to go out and execute it."
Eight days have passed since the Blazers (5-2, 3-1 C-USA) suffered their first conference loss of the season on Oct. 23, as they fell at Tulane, 59-55. UAB has used to the time to get over some injuries and to get mentally prepared for the game.
"I think we were beat up and needed a few days off after Tulane," said Brown. "We wanted to give the players a chance to get their legs back a little and then we've had a game-week of USF. It was just a couple of days to help us regroup. I think it helped us mentally, but I think a lot physically."
USF (2-4, 1-3) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak when it comes to Birmingham. The Bulls fell at Louisville, 41-9, on Oct. 23. Quarterback Pat Julmiste has played in six games for USF, completing 55 passes for 687 yards and four touchdowns this season. Andre Hall leads USF, averaging 91.2 rushing yards per game.
The game will be carried live on the Blazer Sports Network (101.1 FM in Birmingham).
