UAB Cross Country Finishes 16th in Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- The UAB cross country team finished 16th overall in the women's blue division of the 46th annual Notre Dame Invitational here on Friday afternoon. The Blazers competed against 24 teams in the division.
Once again, sophomore Elizabeth Ambrus was the Blazers' top finisher, as she placed 23rd overall in the field of 195. Ambrus finished the 5K course in 17:26. Freshman Elizabeth Hilligoss set a new personal best with a time of 17:53, finishing 60th overall.
Sophomore Jennifer Thompson placed 116th overall after running a time of 18:34, while freshman Petra Ivanova was 126th in the event with a time of 18:39. Freshman Whitney Mays recorded a time of 18:49, good for 143rd overall. Sophomore Ryanne Fortney was 145th after finishing the course in 18:50.
The Blazers will next compete in the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 16.
