BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team practiced for just less than two hours here Monday, beginning its field preparations for Friday night's nationally-televised Conference USA contest with TCU.
The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Legion Field and be televised by ESPN.
Because of the short week for the Blazers, the team's practice routine has been altered from most regular weeks. Normally, the team has a light workout on Sunday and then takes Monday off. With the game Friday, the Blazers took Sunday off and returned to the field today.
The practices this week will be shorter and lighter than other weeks as well.
"We'll have more meetings and less time on the field this week," said head coach Watson Brown, whose team will enter the contest with the Horned Frogs with a 4-1 record and 2-0 mark in C-USA. "Tomorrow will be our day in pads this week and we'll do a little physical work."
Brown was pleased with Monday's practice as his team looks to win its fourth game in a row for the first time since the 2001 season.
"I thought we had a good practice today," said Brown. "We're still a little sore from the Mississippi State game (a 27-13 UAB victory), but we'll work that out as the week goes along and hopefully, we'll be fresh and ready to go on Friday."
