Men's Tennis Travels To Conference Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team (9-13, 2-1) is in Milwaukee, Wisc., this week for the 2003 Conference USA Championships. The Blazers head into the championships as the No. 9 seed and will play 10-seeded East Carolina on Wednesday at 1 pm. This will be the first time the Blazers and Pirates have faced each other this season. UAB looks to snap its three-match losing streak.
East Carolina enters the tournament with an 8-11 overall record and a 1-3 C-USA mark. The Pirates have had their last three matches cancelled due to weather. ECU is looking to snap its own three-match losing streak, after falling to College of Charleston, Richmond and Hampton. The Pirates are a young team with one senior, one junior, three sophomores and a freshman on the squad.
The tournament will continue through Saturday, April 19.
