Men's Tennis Falls To Loyola Marymount, 4-1

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -----The UAB men's tennis team (8-7) was defeated by Loyola Marymount, 4-1, here Saturday afternoon.
The Lions started the match winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to take the point. In the No. 1 match, LMU's Leo Graeubig and Mike Wojnarowicz defeated Blazers Bastian Gruendler and Kristijan Mitrovski, 8-6. UAB's duo of Andre Maier and Dino Mancarella lost to Loyola Marymount's Tigran Martirosyan and Jaakk Asuja, 8-2, in the No. 2 tilt.
The No. 3 match between LMU's Rob Kennedy and Anthony Evrard and the Blazer's Patrick Suhrbier and Sanzaruz Zaman was stopped after the Lions claimed the doubles point.
In singles action, Loyola Marymount won two of three matches to take the match. At the No. 1 position, the Lions' Martirosyan beat UAB's Gruendler, 6-2, 6-3. LMU's Wojnarowicz defeated Blazer Ruben Zrihen in the No. 5 match, 6-2, 7-5.
UAB's lone point came when Suhrbier was victorious in the No. 6 match, beating LMU's Kennedy, 6-1, 6-3.
The No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 matches were stopped after Loyola Marymount clinched the victory.
The Blazers take on UT-Arlington at 8 a.m. on Sunday at the HEB Collegiate.
