Men's Golf Signs Two During Early Signing Period

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Will Wilcox and Kaylor Timmons have signed National Letters of Intent to play men's golf at UAB, announced head coach Alan Kaufman. Both players are native to the state of Alabama and will begin school in September, 2004.
"I am very pleased with the signing of both these players," said Kaufman. "Both are talented and had great high school careers. I am looking forward to them helping our program."
Wilcox, a native of Pell City, Ala., is ranked among the top-30 players in the state of Alabama. He finished runner-up at the Southern Junior Championship and was a semifinalist in the Alabama Memorial Match Play Tournament. He was also a qualifier for the U.S. Junior Championship, reaching match play after finishing 15th in the individual competition. Wilcox is the son of Bill and UAB women's golf coach Kim Wilcox.
Timmons is from Fort Payne, Ala. where he is currently attending Fort Payne High School. Currently, Timmons is ranked as one of the top-five players on the 2003 Southeastern Junior Golf Tour. He had an outstanding summer with a fifth-place finish at the Ringold AJGA event and a sixth-place finish at the Future Masters Tournament. Kaylor is the son of Tim and Janet Timmons of Fort Payne.
