BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team worked out for just over two hours Thursday in helmets and shorts in the team's final practice before taking on Conference USA rival Cincinnati (3-2, 1-1 Conference USA) Saturday afternoon at Legion Field. The practice consisted mostly of mental preparation and closed with the offense working on a two-minute drill.
UAB head coach Watson Brown is hoping, after a solid week of practice and a good performance in last week's win over Memphis, that the team will be able to build on its recent success.
"Anytime you are as young as we are, you need some confidence," Brown said. "You can't gain confidence without something good happening. The good thing from our win last week over Memphis is that our kids understand how to win. We went in with a plan and did the things we're supposed to do to win the game. We took care of the ball, didn't give up big plays, the things we've been talking to them about for five weeks. After another good week of practice, hopefully, we'll carry that to the next one."
Kickoff between UAB (2-3, 1-1 C-USA) and Cincinnati is scheduled for 3 p.m.
