BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB football team practiced in full pads for nearly two-and-a-half hours on Tuesday as the Blazers worked out in wet, overcast conditions at the UAB Practice Facility in preparation for Saturday's Conference USA matchup against Cincinnati.
"We had a very good practice today," said UAB head coach Watson Brown. "We've been practicing well ever since the South Carolina game and last week we had some really good practices."
UAB (2-3, 1-1 C-USA) heads into Saturday's contest with a great deal of momentum after the Blazers defeated Memphis, 24-10, on Oct. 4. The win extended UAB's winning streak to four straight over Memphis and improved the Blazers to 2-1 on the road this season.
"I think that we practiced really well the last two weeks prior to the Memphis game," Brown said. "We carried some of that momentum with us into this week, so we've had two-and-a-half weeks of really good practices."
UAB running backs, Dan Burks and Bo Moncur, returned to practice on Tuesday after sustaining shoulder injuries earlier in the season. Burks injured his shoulder in the final minutes of the Troy State game, while Moncur has been rehabilitating his injury since the Blazers' Sept. 20 meeting against South Carolina.
"I think that Bo is close to being 100 percent, while Dan is still a bit sore," said Brown. "Even though Dan is a little behind at the moment, I think that both of them could play if they had to. Bo will be ready and if we need Dan to play then he will play, but I would like to get him a little closer to 100 percent before we put him in the game."
The UAB football team will square off against the Cincinnati Bearcats in a critical C-USA matchup on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. at Legion Field. The game will be the Blazers' first home contest since Sept. 13, when UAB hosted Troy State.
