Men's Tennis Goes Undefeated In First Day At Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ----- The UAB men's tennis team went undefeated in its first day of competition at the UTC Baras Fall Classic here on Friday.
Sophomore Kristijan Mitrovski led the Blazers with two singles win and a doubles victory with partner Andre Maier. In men's A singles draw round of 32, Mitrovski defeated Alex Fridzon, 7-5, 6-3, before advancing to the round 16 to beat Alex Mabred, 6-0, 6-3. In men's A doubles, no. 1-seeded Mitrovski and Maier advanced to the round of eight with a victory over Manuel Miletic and Rob Nunnery in a tight match by a score of 9-8 (5).
Maier was also victorious in the men's A singles round of 16, beating Julio Moran, 7-6, 6-0. The final UAB win came in the men's B singles draw, as Jean-Pierre De Lange beat Danny McGuire, 7-5, 7-5, to advance to the round of 16.
The UTC Baras Fall Classic continues on Saturday, Sept. 27.
