Men's Tennis Advances Two To Finals At Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ----- The UAB men's tennis team tallied a 3-2 record in its second day of competition at the UTC Baras Fall Classic here on Saturday. For the second day in a row, sophomore Kristijan Mitrovski led the Blazers with two singles wins.
Mitrvoski defeated No. 4-seed Dexter Mahase, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the men's A singles. In the semifinal round, Mitrovski beat the No. 1 seed, David Canudas, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0(6). Mitrovski will play Brett Johnson in the finals on Sunday, Sept. 28.
In men's A doubles, Mitrovski and Andre Maier advanced to the finals with an 8-5 win over Felipe Abreu and Felipe Lima.
Andre Maier lost his quarterfinal match in the men's A singles, falling to Felipe Lima, 6-1, 6-1. In men's B singles, Jean-Pierre De Lange fell to Luis Aguerrevere, 6-1, 6-1, in the round of 16.
The UTC Baras Fall Classic continues on Sunday, Sept. 28.
