BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In hot and humid weather conditions (temperature around 96 degrees with a heat index of close to 100 degrees) the UAB football team worked out for nearly two hours Thursday in its final practice before taking on Troy State Saturday at Legion Field.
Head coach Watson Brown was pleased with Thursday's final practice of the week and said that the team is up for the challenge Saturday.
"It was a fantastic practice," said Brown. "We are ready to play. We are really excited, with this being our first home game. We are ready to go."
Brown added that even though Saturday's game is against an in-state opponent, the team will focus on this game just like any other.
"Every game is the same with us," said Brown. "We get ready to play every game the same way, but we are really looking forward to the challenge."
Saturday's game will be televised on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
