Tennis Completes First Weekend Of Fall Season

UAB's tennis teams completed their final day of competition in their respective tournaments on Sunday. The women's tennis team wrapped-up competition at the 2002 Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by the University of Alabama, while the men finished their play at the Steve Baras Memorial Collegiate Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In Tuscaloosa, several UAB players faced off this morning with the Blazers winning three of the four matches they played in. In Flight "B", Natascha Immele defeated Kelly Taylor of Louisville, 6-0, 6-0. In Flight "F", UAB's Yvonne Ernst defeated Marusa Pogacnik of Arkansas State after Pogacnik defaulted. In Flight "G", No. 1 seed Nadia Dellarciprete defeated No. 2 seed Julie Ferguson of Alabama, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. The Blazers only loss of the day came in Flight "D", as Femko de Boer fall to Megan McCoy of Arkansas State, 6-0, 6-1.
In Chattanooga, the Blazers only had one player take to the court on Sunday, but Dino Mancarella played three matches. In the Consolation round of Flight "B", No. 1 seed Mancarella first defeated Richard Turner, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. In Mancarella's semi-final match, he beat Rodrigo Borges, 6-2, 6-0. In the finals, Mancarella was victorious over Gustavo Auzola, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (8).
