BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team worked out for approximately two hours in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts Wednesday, as preparations continued for Saturday's 6 p.m. kickoff at Louisiana-Lafayette. UAB head coach Watson Brown was pleased with the day's efforts.
"It was a good Wednesday practice, one of our better Wednesday practices," said Brown. "We have not practiced well on Wednesday the last couple of weeks and I thought this was a good one today."
Freshman quarterback Darrell Hackney had some good repetitions in Wednesday's practice, as he is trying to overcome a knee injury he suffered late in the Troy State game Sept. 7.
"Darrell got a little work today" said Brown. "He is still a little sore. We are working him back slow. We will see how he is doing tomorrow with his soreness and make an evaluation."
The Blazers return to the practice field Thursday, as the team continues to look towards Saturday's game with Louisiana-Lafayette. The contest will be televised as part of the ESPN Plus Package.
