UAB practiced for more than two hours in helmets and shorts, getting ready for Saturday's matchup against Pittsburgh at 6 p.m. at Legion Field. The Blazers have been recovering from injuries after two physical games in a row, against Florida and Troy State. Head coach Watson Brown says UAB knows this game won't be any different.
"They're a big, strong, Big East-looking team," said Brown. "They run right at you and attack you on defense, so we're going to have to play a tough game with them. You can't beat them unless you jump in the trenches with them and take them on."
The Blazers have spent much of the week preparing for a team that is hard to prepare for. Pittsburgh is known for having many different threats and attacking their opposition.
"It's been a hard week of preparation because they do a lot of different things. I think the kids are prepared for it. I think most of the soreness is out and we're ready to go," said Brown. "They are a very tough team, we're going to have to play a tough game with them."
The Blazers and Panthers faced off last season, with Pittsburgh winning, 24-6. UAB is hoping to have a better outcome this season, taking advantage of playing at home.
