BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-----After Tuesday's final intrasquad scrimmage of the preseason, the UAB football team had a light workout Wednesday afternoon for just over two hours. Wednesday's practice concentrated mainly on corrected mistakes from the scrimmage held Tuesday afternoon.
I was disappointed in our starters yesterday but the younger kids stepped up, said head coach Watson Brown. Yesterday was one of our poorer days focus-wise on both sides.
Sophomore running backs Theron Dudley (thigh) and Kendal Gibson (hamstring) both returned to practice today after missing several days due to injuries.
Today we worked on correcting mistakes from the scrimmage, said Brown. Tomorrow we will start preparing ourselves for the Florida game.
The Blazers will again only have one practice Thursday afternoon, beginning at 2:40.
UAB will hold its 2002 football Fans Day this Saturday, August 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the UAB mini-park. Fans are invited to come out and meet the 2002 Blazers football team.
On August 31, UAB will open their 2002 season against the nationally-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville, Fla. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT. The contest will be televised on a pay-per-view basis by SportsChannel Florida. The Sunshine Network will also air the game on a taped delay basis.
