Women's Basketball Falls To Charlotte 69-49

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Peaches Harris had 18 points to go along with five assists, Adrienne Jordan posted a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while shooting 53.8 percent (7-13) from the floor, and Kysah Upchurch added 10 points to help lift Charlotte (14-10, 6-5 Conference USA) to a 69-49 victory over UAB (10-14, 2-9 C-USA) in Conference USA women's basketball action at Halton Arena.
Charlotte shot 41 percent from the field for the game, while holding UAB to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor and a 0-10 night from three-point range.
Natasha Thomas posted her C-USA leading 17th double-double for UAB with 19 points, to lead all scorers, and 15 rebounds. Thomas shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from the field. Shaquetta Rhodes recorded her fourth double-double of the season, posting 15 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 66.7 percent (6-9) from the field for the Lady Blazers.
Charlotte went on a 9-0 run early in the second half to build a 39-18 lead with 17:10 remaining in the game. The Lady Blazers trimmed the lead to 12 twice in the second half, but would come no closer.
Both teams had cold shooting in the first frame. Charlotte shot 33.3 percent (12-36) from the floor and UAB shot 29.2 percent (7-24).
With UAB leading 8-5, the 49ers went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-8 advantage with 11:02 remaining in the first half. Charlotte built a 16-point lead near the end of the half, but Vanessa White's lay up at the buzzer trimmed the lead to 14. Charlotte led 30-16 at the break.
UAB next travels to Greenville, N.C. to face C-USA rival East Carolina Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET).
